There was no response.
Citizen comments
Sean Edwards, 3503 Oakes Avenue, lives in the Port Gardner neighborhood and asked if the
transportation element considered the connectivity between the development and the
surrounding neighborhoods. He did not want the area to become a gated community that was
closed off from the surrounding neighborhoods. He was concerned about the flooding potential
of the area. He understood that buildings would be constructed above the floodplain level;
however, he asked if global climate change had been considered in the formula for future
floodplain levels. He asked how the City and OliverMcMillan intend to implement and pay for
some of the salmon habitat restoration elements and how that lines up with mitigation for
impacts on this site. He asked "How do we pay for salmon habitat restoration and mitigation?"
He wanted to make sure that the City was not using scarce public grant dollars to do mitigation
work that should be paid by the developer.
Ryan Countryman, 3312 Lombard Avenue, is excited about the Riverfront Redevelopment
project. His main concern was related to flooding and the 100 year flood plain estimates. He
would like to see the FEIS take into account estimates of future flooding events and referred to
a chart prepared by Dr.Alexander which showed the historic flooding events. He would like to
see cross sections of the existing river level, projected river level, the existing floor elevation for
the sites as they will be filled 2 feet above the 100 year floodplain, and then the current FEMA
depth of whatever a 100 year flood would be and projected out to 2047 estimates. He would
like to see whether or not the two foot fill above the current 100 year floodplain will be sufficient.
Sandee Little, 6003 Broadway, has been a real estate agent for 20 years. She had some
questions about the monetary side of the project and asked about some discrepancies in the
