Planning Commission December 9, 2008 Pg. 6 <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> Street Overcrossing project settlement agreement that was made with environmental groups <br /> and Tulalip Tribes. <br /> 8:37:29 PM <br /> Richard Reese, 12810 48th Street SE, Snohomish, stated that he is a partner in a firm in Seattle <br /> and they develop turn key projects for national developers of which Windham Worldwide is one <br /> of them,which is the largest franchise hotel in the world. They also work for Camden properties <br /> which develops high end multifamily projects. Also, they are a turn key developer for a national <br /> senior housing organization. The reason he brought those companies up is that the two <br /> multifamily developers are very excited about this project. While he worked with Windham <br /> Worldwide, he had worked with Oliver McMillan and he was very impressed with their staff and <br /> the work that they had done. <br /> 8:40:27 PM <br /> Chairman Olivers asked if there was anyone else who wished to speak. <br /> Motion: Commissioner Moore made a motion to close the public hearing. Commissioner <br /> Chase seconded the motion. <br /> Vote: Commissioner Chase, yes; Commissioner Trautman, yes; Commissioner Moore, yes; <br /> and Chairman Olivers, yes. <br /> Motion Carried. <br /> Commissioner Chase stated that any project that brings housing, recreation and other services <br /> together with freeway access was an excellent use of property. He appreciates all the effort that <br /> has gone into the master planning for the site. He is also familiar with Oliver McMillan and they <br /> have a good reputation. <br /> 8:42:16 PM <br /> Commissioner Moore stated that he appreciated the citizens who have been involved and <br /> commented on the project because those comments have shaped the outcome of the <br /> development. <br /> 8:42:50 PM <br /> Chairman Olivers stated that energy cost considerations have been important to Planning <br /> Commission and is important to the community as a whole. He appreciated mixed use type <br /> developments that put residential, commercial, and business type uses in close proximity <br /> because he felt that if we don't build communities that are well integrated, we do not get people <br /> out of their cars. <br /> 8:44:41 PM <br /> Commissioner Trautman felt that it was important to provide public access to the River in as <br /> many places as possible. She also felt that connectivity for all non-motorized modes of <br /> transportation was very important. <br /> 8:47:26 PM <br /> Commissioner Trautman referred to page 26 of the residential design guidelines which deal with <br /> windows and stated that there was no mention of skylights.
