The funds will be disbursed over a two year period, and require a match from the City. The first year Gates will provide $33,150, and the City will provide $11,050. In November 2008,the City administration approved a letter to BCR, the organization handling the granting process, agreeing to provide the matching funds . In 2010 the Gates Foundation will provide$19,500 and the City will provide $19,500.The library is required to purchase a total of 32 public computers by the end of the grant cycle. In addition to computers and software the library will purchase printers and other peripherals and supplies that will support public computing.The library has long lagged behind its peers in the number of Internet computers available for the public, and this grant will bring us in line with other systems in the state and the country as we improve this very important service to our patrons. The source of matching funds will be the General Fund.
