The City of <br /> Everett has two elected municipal court judges. In accordance with RCW 3.50.090, the presiding municipal <br /> court judge designates pro tem judges to serve in the absence or disability of the elected municipal court <br /> judges. At the same time, EMC 2.108.060 authorizes the Mayor to make such appointment. The proposed <br /> ordinance updates the City's existing municipal court procedures to avoid the appearance of, or potential for, <br /> inconsistency between State and local procedures providing for appointment to be made by the presiding <br /> municipal court judge.
