This will improve operations and planning by utilizing available data to better meet the <br /> needs of customers. <br /> Furthermore, Transit would like to install Mobile Data Terminals in Para Transit vans to allow more <br /> expeditious communications between drivers, dispatchers, and customers. Implementation of these <br /> systems will provide more accurate and timely information to the citizens that ride Everett Transit and <br /> will improve overall efficiencies of transit services. <br /> Finally, as the budget allows, Transit would like to add Computer Aided Dispatch, Automatic Vehicle <br /> Location, and Passenger Information Systems to the above technology for a completely integrated <br /> system. These items will be options in the RFP process and will only be purchased if funding allows. <br /> Funding for this project is provided through a $450,000 Federal Transit Administration American <br /> Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant and$450,000 of matching funds budgeted in 2009. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Request for Proposals 2009-034 for Integrated Transit Technology System 9 <br />
