AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 3046-07 entitled "Key Bank/Bank of Everett/Bank of Everett Shell Improvement Project", Fund 342, Program 012, authorizing the design and construction of building shell improvements. WHEREAS, the City owns the building on the corner of California and Wetmore (former Key Bank/Bank of Everett/Bank of Everett building), which is currently surplus to the City's needs and available for lease to private parties; and WHEREAS, Village Theatre currentlymanages and operates the Everett Performing Arts Center adjacent to the former Key Bank/Bank of Everett building. Included in the programs that Village Theatre offers to the public are youth education programs for which, with appropriate improvements, said former Key Bank/Bank of Everett building offers a highly attractive venue; and WHEREAS, the City Council has recognized the need to make code upgrades and shell improvements to the former Key Bank/Bank of Everett building before turning the premises over to Village Theatre; and WHEREAS, Ordinance 3046-07 was established to fund the design of the building shell improvements; and WHEREAS, additional funding is necessary to complete the design and construction of the building shell improvements NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: A special construction fund is hereby established as Fund 342, Program 012; entitled "Key Bank/Bank of Everett Shell Improvement Project" to accumulate the design and construction costs required to construct code upgrades and shell improvements. Section 2: Authorization is hereby granted to the Facilities/Property Management Director under the administration of the Mayor, to assume full responsibility for conducting all tasks and performing all necessary steps to accomplish the actions authorized by this Ordinance.
