The grant, in the amount of$93,539.00,has been awarded with no matching fund requirement. The grant funds will provide for the following: a forensic alternate light source; lighting and sight improvements for patrol long guns and Tactical Unit rifles; Tactical Unit communications upgrade; laptop computer and digital media projector; SCUBA equipment; personal flotation devices; ballistic-grade helmets for Special Operations Group; and South Precinct classroom multimedia presentation equipment improvements. The grant program period is October 1,2009—September 30, 2012. RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Mayor to sign the necessary documents to accept the 2009 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant award in the amount of$93,539. 103
