4 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION of the City of Everett <br /> to honor the life of Marian V. Krell <br /> WHEREAS, Marian V. Krell had a passion for Everett and gave of herself in so <br /> many ways through her service as a City Councilmember and neighborhood volunteer <br /> as well as a strong advocate for the arts; and <br /> WHEREAS, Marian V. Krell was born in Everett on June 28, 1938, and <br /> graduated from Everett High School in 1956; and <br /> WHEREAS, she attended Everett Junior College starting in 1956 and married <br /> Jerome Krell in 1958 and raised three children; and <br /> WHEREAS, Marian began her work for the City in 1994 as the director of the <br /> Office of Neighborhoods and then served as a City Council member from 2002 to 2006; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett native helped launch the now-beloved Monte Cristo <br /> Awards, now in its 15th year, which recognizes businesses and residents who <br /> rejuvenate and improve their property; and <br /> WHERAS, as a Council member she pushed for City Council meetings to be <br /> televised to increase government openness and was an advocate for Everett Transit, a <br /> vital transportation link for seniors and low-income families. <br /> WHEREAS, in 1992 Marian received the national Neil Harlan Award for her <br /> community service and contributions; and <br /> WHEREAS, she dedicated many years to organizations such as the Everett Park <br /> Foundation Board, the Arts Council of Snohomish County Board of Directors, Arts <br /> Council of Snohomish County Advisory Board, the Everett Senior Center Advisory Board <br /> and the Everett Senior Center Foundation; and <br /> WHEREAS, Marian's love for Everett was very evident in her generosity <br /> throughout the Everett community; and <br /> WHEREAS, we are blessed Marian Krell shared her life with the Everett <br /> community; <br /> 8 <br />
