The City has been awarded a 2010
grant in the amount of$12,000 to complete a National Register District nomination form for portions of
Hewitt, Rockefeller and Oakes Avenues.
The City's application for this grant was supported by the Historical Commission. This nomination will
build on existing historic property inventories from 1989 and 1993 and work completed for the draft
Downtown Historic Preservation Plan funded by a 2008 state grant. Public comments are currently being
accepted on that draft plan. The$12,000 for the 2010 grant will be used to hire a professional consultant to
complete the nomination form.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign the 2010 Historic Preservation Grant Agreement with the State of Washington
Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation.
4.9
