3 RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing a fixed route fare for commuter oriented services <br /> equal to Community Transit's local fare. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett and Everett Transit continue to work in <br /> cooperation with Community Transit to provide transit choices to their mutual <br /> customers; and <br /> WHEREAS, Everett Transit and Community Transit have identified potential <br /> transit markets outside the city limits of Everett that are not part of Community <br /> Transit's current or long range service plans; and <br /> WHEREAS, Everett Transit and Community Transit mutually agree that Everett <br /> Transit is the more appropriate fixed route service provider for destinations <br /> inside the City of Everett and outside of the Everett Station area, regardless of <br /> the point of origin; and <br /> WHEREAS, customers in these potential markets currently pay a fare equal to <br /> Community Transit's or Sound Transit's fixed route fare; and <br /> WHEREAS, in the spirit of mutual interest and cooperation, any Everett Transit <br /> fixed route service operated outside the Everett city limits should not unfairly <br /> compete with the local or regional service providers; and <br /> WHEREAS, current transit customers affected by this resolution will not realize a <br /> fare increase by this proposed action. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of Everett: <br /> Effective December 1, 2009, the fare for Everett Transit fixed route bus services <br /> that either originate outside Everett city limits or whose primary purpose is to <br /> connect with Sound Transit at a regional facility, shall be equal to Community <br /> Transit's fixed route bus service fares at the time of service. However, this does <br /> not apply to the Everett Transit route between Mukilteo and Everett Station, <br /> which may have fares greater than or less than Community Transit's fixed route <br /> bus service fares. <br /> Councilperson Introducing Resolution <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED this day of , 2009. <br /> 6 <br />
