SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE RESOLUTION NO. 4229
A resolution for waiving the public bidding requirements for the sole source purchase from
Ameritech Library Services of Provo, Utah, for automated library system software and
maintenance.
Whereas, the Everett Public Library requires computer software for their Automated Library
System; and
Whereas, Ameritech Library Services offers the only automated library system software that
meets our needs; and
Whereas, the product offered by Ameritech Library Services was evaluated by representatives
from the Library and found be the only software designed for libraries our size with the desirable
patron interface and public library features; and
Whereas, continuing to use the software offered by Ameritech Library Services will reduce the
need for retraining both staff and patrons; and
Whereas, the software offered by Ameritech Library Services is compatible with the file
structure of the bar code labels affixed to the library collection, thus avoiding the need to re-label
significant portions of the collection,
Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everett that the purchase of this
automated library system software and maintenance is clearly and legitimately limited to a single
source, Ameritech Library Services of Provo, Utah, and that the Purchasing Division is
authorized to purchase this software without soliciting competitive bids as long as we have the
system. Cost to be approximately $145,000 in 1996 and approximately $35,000 in subsequent
years.
-
Council rson Introd ng Resolution
PASSED and APPROVED this 14th day of February , 1996.
C:uncil President
