These upgrades would improve operations and
planning by utilizing available data to better meet the needs of customers. This RFP award covers the
installation of Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) in Paratransit vans and implementation of an Integrated Voice
Response (IVR) telephone system for Paratransit scheduling. MDTs will allow for more expeditious
communications between drivers and dispatchers. IVR will improve communication between customers and
dispatchers, thereby providing more efficient Paratransit scheduling and routing. The Fixed Route portion of
this project will be awarded separately.
Four proposals were received in response to this RFP. After an initial evaluation by City representatives of
Transit, Information Technology, and Telecommunications, two firms, Trapeze Software and Strategic
Mapping, were chosen to participate in the interview and demonstration phase of the evaluation. Trapeze
Software was selected for this portion of the project because of their demonstrated strength in Paratransit
Scheduling and Operations. Additionally, theirs was the only solution that did not require significant changes
to current systems and operating procedures.
Based on their evaluation, staff recommends awarding the Paratransit portion of the Integrated Transit
Technology system to Trapeze Software Group LLC.
Funding for this project is provided through a Federal Transportation Administration American Recovery &
Reinvestment Act grant and Transit funds budgeted in 2009.
:ECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Award the Paratransit portion of RFP 09-034, Integrated Transit Technology System to Trapeze Software
Group, LLCand Authorize the Mayor to sign a contract with Trapeze Software Group, LLC in the amount of 13
$307,240.00.
