Cosmopolitan recommended the Recovered Water Outfall be extended approximately 4,000 feet
into Lake Chaplain, and that the recovered water pumps be upgraded to accommodate this extension. The
extension of the Recovered Water Outfall will separate the outfall from the intake pipe, ensuring that the
majority of the recovered water is drawn to the north end of the lake and that the portion of recovered water
returning to the plant intakes has undergone significant dilution.
The design of the Recovered Water Outfall is now complete and the project is ready to bid for construction.
$395,000 has previously been spent on preliminary and final design services. The anticipated construction
cost is $1.93 million.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize a Call for Bids for the construction of the Recovered Water Outfall Project at the Water Filtration
Plant.
3
