The next steps in reducing <br /> energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG)emissions are for the City to determine reduction targets and <br /> develop an action plan. With the award of an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant on October <br /> 14, 2009,the City is hereby contracting with ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability to assist in <br /> developing its long range Climate Action Plan for reducing municipal energy consumption and GHG <br /> emissions. <br /> The Professional Services Agreement with ICLEI lasts 12 months and will accomplish the following tasks: <br /> • Local Government Operations Protocol Compliance Analysis for the Municipal Operations portion of <br /> Everett's existing GHG Inventory <br /> • Framing the Reductions Target for Municipal Government Operations <br /> • Identification and Quantification of Implemented GHG Reduction Measures in Municipal <br /> Government Operations <br /> • Identify and Prioritize Potential Measures to Reduce Emissions in Municipal Government Operations <br /> • Draft the Municipal Climate Action Plan. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Authorize the Mayor to sign Professional Services Agreement with ICLEI-Local Governments for <br /> Sustainability to prepare a Climate Action Plan for Municipal Operations in the amount not to exceed <br /> $49,000. <br /> 9 <br />
