RESOLUTION NO. 3999EL/ERETT <br /> A RESOLUTION recognizing the proud football tradition of Everett <br /> High School, as evidenced by the fact that three of its noteworthy <br /> graduates are coaching college football teams currently ranked in the Top <br /> 20 in the nation. <br /> WHEREAS, Everett High School has a long and proud tradition of producing <br /> outstanding high school football student-athletes, many of whom have gone on to <br /> play at the college and pro level; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of those Everett High School alumni, Jim Lambright of the Class <br /> of 1960, is head coach of the University of Washington Huskies football team that <br /> climbed to 12th in the national Associated Press college football poll this week <br /> after ending the Miami Hurricanes' 58-game home field unbeaten streak with a 38- <br /> 20 victory; and <br /> WHEREAS, a second Everett High School alum, Dennis Erickson of the Class of <br /> 1965, has one of the top winning percentages of any active college football coach <br /> and currently is head coach of the Miami University football team, which has had <br /> outstanding success and is ranked No. 13 in the nation; and <br /> WHEREAS, a third Everett High School alum, Mike Price of the Class of 1964, is <br /> head coach of the Washington State University football team that climbed to 17th <br /> in the national rankings by beating the UCLA Bruins 21-0 and remaining <br /> undefeated at 3-0; and <br /> WHEREAS, these coaches give Everett High School the distinction of having <br /> three of its graduates and ex-football players coaching teams that are currently <br /> ranked in the top 20; and <br /> WHEREAS, few other high schools in the nation -- if any -- can boast of such an <br /> honor. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT: <br /> 1. That Everett High School deserves the gratitude, appreciation, and thanks of the <br /> City and community for bringing this area into the national eye in a positive way; <br /> and <br />
