I'rt ihe Permit Services Manager for Everett. I asked Terri to forward your message on to me I'm sorry
to hear o! your (rustrations about water services.
As •. know, your neighborhood was developed as residential condominiums. Therefore, all the ow.rs of units within
he ndominium are tied together in a condominium a;sociation - which often have various expenses that are shared
arong the owners. 8ecause of this cooperetive arrangement between the condo owners, it is commonpla:e in these
types of developments for a single water service to be installed to structures with multiple attached units - like duplexes,
triplexes, fourplexes and so on up to multi-family buildings. In the Silverwood Condominium develooment there are five
duplex style structures and tliey are ail served by a single water service.
I looked at the Google Street Vicw of your site and it appears that the developer installed what is krowi as a"Deduct
Meter" which sits just behind and adjacent to the City's meter (I have asked our Water Supenntendent t. (ield veriry
this►. This is a private (non•cityJ meter that enables the condo owner's to equitably split the tility bill between the two
un!ts bas?d on iheir relative consumption of water. However, this arrangement does require cooperetion between the
fclks who own the two units within the duplex to agree ro split the single bill that the City sends for our single metered
servicr.
As Terri indicated, with your request and payment, we could install an additional water service for the duplex. Please
recognize that the $2,394 Fee would cover the city's work to cut ipen ihe road and sidewalk, tap the rnain and install the
new service ir the grass behind the sidewalk and restore tle road and sidewalk. You and/or your neighbor would be
responsible for making the connection to the "customer side" of the new meter, as well as any plumbing required to
separate the services between the units.
I hope you find this information hel; ful. Plea,e don't hesitate to contazt me with any questions or concems you may
have.
Sincerely,
Paul McKee
Permit Services Manager
Cityof Everett
3200 Cedar Street
[ver^tt, WA 98201
425-257-d867p
425-157-8857t
-----Original M?ssage-----
From: Terri lorgenson
Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2015 3:59 PP
