The Everett Municipal Code requires all
property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sevcr shall connect
their private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified hy the City ot Everett
Public Works Department.
Our records also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 teet of an
existing public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our saitary sewer
chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any
costs to connect, including construction and monthly sever service charges, is to be
borne by the property owner.
I( you believe your residence cr business is currenty connected to the City's sewer
main, please contact lhe City of Everett Public Works Department at 425-257-8800 so
we can update our records.
A sewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one
viable means of proof. Another alternative ;o prove the structure is connected to the
sewer system is to allow the City of [verett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires
the owner's permission and the resident's notification to allow a city employee to enter
the premises and flush dye into the toile. In a short amount of time the colored water
will appear in the sewer main if the residenr,e is hooked up to the sewer system.
In the event you are not currently connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection,
the City engineer may, on written request irom the property owner, extend the time to
c,nnect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of 1 years; provided that,
at he property owner's expense, the Snohomish Health Distric` certifies, in writing, tu
the Pubiic Works Department that the existing sewage system i.; operational. The
Snohomish Haalth District can be contacted at 425-339-P,250; ask for the Wastewater
Division. To request a waiver, please return the enclosec torm.
' Everett Municipal Code further establishes that all properties wihin 'S0 feet of an
available public sanitary sewer, who fail to connect after notice b the City, shall pav to
ITY OF CV[RGTT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, Vb7, 9£i201 • (425) 257-RBOD • Fax (42i) 7`,i-8f1i1?
