UBL/C WORK.
(oo
n
April 6, 2006
, m E 5 (i C rC-T r
NAME1» r -
aADD1 »«HOUSE» aSTREET» •l y I ` ' G
«CITY» «STATE» «ZIP» U P n lvi `7 go
Re: Connection to Available Public Sewer --«HOUSE» «STREET»
This letter is to inform you that a review of our records indicates that your property may
not be connected to the public sewer system. TFie Everett Municipal Code requires all
property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a pubiic sanitary sewer shall conrecl
their private sewer sysiem to th public sewer after being notified by the City of Everett
Public Works Department.
Our records also indicate that yeur property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet oi an
existing public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpl from our sanitary sewer
cliart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any
cosis to connect, including construction and monthly sewer service charyes, is to be
borne by tlie property owner.
If you believe your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer
main, please contact the City of Everett Public Works Department at 425-257-8800 so
we r.an update our records.
A sewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one
viable mezns of prooi. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the
sewer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires
the owner's permission and the resident's notification to allow a city employee to enter
the premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water
will appear in ihe sewer main if the residence is hooked up to the sewer system.
In tlie event you are not currently connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection,
lhe City engineer may, on written request from the property owner, extend the time to
connect to the public sewer for a penod of up to a maximum oi 10 years; provided that,
al tlie property owner's expense, the Snohomish Health District certifies, in writing, to
tl•e Public Works Department that the existing sewage system is operationai. The
nohomish Health District can be conlacted at 425-339-5250; ask for the Wastewater
Division. To request a waiver, please retum the enclosed form.
Everett Municipa! Code furtlier establishes that all properties within 150 feet of an
available public sandary sewer, who fail to ronnect after notice by the City, shall pay to
CITY 0= FV[RETT • 3200 Cedar Streel • Everell, WA 98201 •(425) 257-8800 • Fax (425) 257-8882
