PUBL /C WO?K5
April 6, 2006
JAMES LEPLEY
528 116TH ST SE
EVERETT WA 98208
Re: Connection to Available Public Sewer -- 52d 11G1 H ST SE
This letter is to inform you that a review of our records indicates that your property may
not be connected to the public sewer system. The Everett Munir, ipal Code requires all
property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect
their private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the City of Evrett
Public Works Depar'.ment.
Our reccrds also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an
existing public saitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer
chart indicating the proximity of your property to a pblic sanitary sewer system. Any
costs to connect, including construction and monthiy sewer service charges, is to be
borne by the property owner.
If you believe your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer
main, pleae contact the City of Eerett Public Works Uepartment at 425-257-8800 so
we can update our records.
A ewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one
viable means of proof. Another alternative to prove lhe structure is connected to the
sewer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires
the owner's permission and the resident's notification to allow a city employee to enter
the premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water
will appear in the sewer riain ii the residence is hooked a to the sewer system.
In the event you are not c:urrent!y connected to the sewer and wisf to delay connection,
the City engineer may, on written request from the property owner, extend the time to
connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of 10 years; provided that,
at the property owner's expense, fhe Snohomish Heaith District certifies, in writing, to
the Public Works Department that the existing sewage system is operational. The
Snohomish Health District can be contacted at 425-339-5250; ask for the Wastwater
Division. To request a waiver, please retum the enclosed form.
[verett Municipal Code further establishes that all properties within 150 feet of an
available public sanitary sewer, who fail to connect after notice by the City, shall pay to
;II Y OF (.VERCTT • 3?00 Cedar Street •[verett.
