The Everett Municipal Code requires all
property owners within 150 feet or djacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect
their private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the City oi Everett
Public Works Department.
Our records also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an
existing public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer
chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any
costs to connect, including construction anJ monthly sewer service charges, is to be
borne by the property owner.
If you believe your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer
main, please contact the City of Everett Public Works Department at 425-257-8800 so
we can update our record;.
A sewer permit and applicaion issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one
viable means o( proof. A dye test requires
the owner's permission and the resident's notification to allow a city employee !n enter
the premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amourt of time lhe colored wter
will appear in the sewer main i( the esidence is hooked up to the sewer system.
In the event you are not currently connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection,
the City engineer may, on written requast from the property owner, extend the time to
connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a max±mum of 10 years; provided that,
at the property owner's expense, the Snohomish Health District certifies, in writing, to
the Public Works Department that the existing sewage system is operatior,al. The
Snohc.rish Healtli Districi can be contacted at 42-339-5250; ask for the Wastewater
Division.
