The Everett Municipal Code requires all property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect iheir private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the City of Everett Fublic Works Department. Our records also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet oi an existmg public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any costs to connect, including construction and monthly sewer service charges, is to be borne by the property owner. I( you believe your residence or business is cuirently connected to the City's sewer main, please contact the City of Everett Public Works Department at 425-257-880U so we can update our records. A sewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one viable means oi proo(. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the sawer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires tlie owner's pennission and the resident's notitication to allow a city employee to enter tlie premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water will appear in the se��er main i( the residence is hooked up to the sewer system. In tlie event you are not currenlly connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection, the City engineer may, on written request from the property owner, exlend the time to connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of 10 years; provided that, at ihe property owner's expense, the Snohomish Heallh District ceriifies, in writing, to tlie Public Works Department that the existing sewage system is operational.
