The Everett Municipal Code requires all <br />property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect <br />iheir private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the City of Everett <br />Fublic Works Department. <br />Our records also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet oi an <br />existmg public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer <br />chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any <br />costs to connect, including construction and monthly sewer service charges, is to be <br />borne by the property owner. <br />I( you believe your residence or business is cuirently connected to the City's sewer <br />main, please contact the City of Everett Public Works Department at 425-257-880U so <br />we can update our records. <br />A sewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one <br />viable means oi proo(. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the <br />sawer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires <br />tlie owner's pennission and the resident's notitication to allow a city employee to enter <br />tlie premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water <br />will appear in the se��er main i( the residence is hooked up to the sewer system. <br />In tlie event you are not currenlly connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection, <br />the City engineer may, on written request from the property owner, exlend the time to <br />connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of 10 years; provided that, <br />at ihe property owner's expense, the Snohomish Heallh District ceriifies, in writing, to <br />tlie Public Works Department that the existing sewage system is operational. The <br />Snohomish Health District can be contacted al 425-339-5250; ask for the Wastewater <br />Divisiun.
