The Everelt Municipal Code requires that all property owners wilhin 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect their private sewer system to tlie public sewer after being notified by the Public Works Department. Our records also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an existing public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any costs to connect, including construction and monlhly sewer charges, are to be borne by the property owner. I( you belie�e that your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer main, please contact lhe City of Everett Public Works Department a; 425-257-8800 so we can update our records. A sewer permit and application issued by ihe City and signed by an inspector is one viable meanr of proof. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the sewer systam is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye tesl requires lhe owner's permission and Ilie resident's notification to allow a city employee to enter ihe premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water will appear in tlie sewer main i( tlie residence is hooked up to the sewer system. !n the event you are not currently connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection, tlie City Engineer may, on written request from the property owner, extend the time to connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of ten (10) years; provided that, at tlie property owner's expense, lhe Snohomish Health District certifies, in writing, to the Pu�lic Works Department that ihe existing sewage system is operational.
