This has been discusst:l with Mr. Randy Clark of Select Homes, Mr. Pat i,f,.Cov-t
of Universal Brokerage Corporati in, and Mr. Michael Crowson of W&H Pacific.
f
We have observed no signs of instability on native slopes in Divisions III and IV. Fill
slopes on Divisions III and IV were coltstructed with structural fill consisting of on-site granular
soils under full-time moritoring of a qualified individual from our firm. The strnch:ral fill is
keyed into existing firm native soils and fiL placed to achieve the final slope grade., has been
properly benched into existing native materials and compact d to 95 percent of;ADr (maximum
dry den..ity)according to the specifirations of the ASTM D-1557 test procedure. In addition, the
lots are graded to slope away from the tops of slope, and all slopes have b-en covered n ith jute
mitting and hydroseeded for erosion protection.
In our opinion, where slopes have been placer, compacted, graded, and vegetated as
described above, the minimum building setback distance can be reduced to 10 feet, 1',e setback
distance is the horizontal distance measured from the front face of the fooling to rIe face of the
slope. It should be understood that if the setback distance is reduced to 10 fe,1, due risks of
losing access, reducing the design life of the foundations and having slope mcvenlent impact the
house foundations are increased.
i
2
i to I°ith.{ienue S E
Fxdnnnd.M(),Si
1 rciepllJllt'1:WI:•GIiN KNI
F1f 1'lWt iv9{I(Ij0
meC n ireYtYN pp
'rq.
