Beverl.y Lake is classified as a Category III
wetland. Section 37 of the Everett Zoninq Code reqires a
50 foot buffer area of nati.e vegetation to be left
undl.sturbed around all Category LII wetlands.
On a recent field investigation of the site, it became clear
that some fill materialg (i.e. qravel and posibly some
dirt) have been placed within what wa left of a buffer area
eround the apartment office, all the way to the edge of the
shoreline. Similar fill appears to have occurred on the
edge ef an existing parking area on the east side of the
office, directly next to the shoreline. Both of these area,
are being uFd as informal parkinq spaces, and are thc
subject of your current paving permit application.
The placement of fill in the areas described above is in
vilrtion of Sectian ]7 of the Everett Loning Cole. No new
alteration of this property including fill, paving, or
parking of vehicles is permitted to take place within tte
shoreline buffer area.
To resolve this viulation, you are required to remove all
gravel fill materi.al within the 50 foot buffer area,
measured from the hiqh water mark of the shoreline e9ge. A
25 foot wide strip (parallel to the lake edge) must be
replanted in native veqetation including willows (Facific
and Sitka), doqwood, salmonberry, cedar and hemlock. Oregon
qrape, Douglas fir, and snowberry may be used to plant in
the higher areas of the buffer. Beause the shoreline was
previously modified during construction of the apartments
and beinq used as open space, the remaining 25 feet of the
buffe may be planted in lawn for use as open space for the
tenants, provided that no fertilizers or pesticits be used
on it, which would compromise lake water quality.
Location: 2731 Wetmore Avenue „,
nm. nr rCncTr . annn ......_._ r.."'.. ue nnnn. . inn ocn o01 . cv IanG o6n o7eo .
