The spec. sheet of an <br />acceptable wood preservative is attached. <br />8urface Pond• <br />All ponds with a maximum depth greater than three feet are <br />required to be fenced with a six foot high perimeter fence <br />unless one of the following conditions is met: <br />1) a 10 foot wide safety bench for every three feet of <br />desiqn water depth and the side slopes of the pond are no <br />greater than 3:1 (H:V); or <br />2) the maximu� water depth oi the facility does not exceed <br />three feet during a two year storm, nor exceed three feet <br />for more than four hours for a 25 year storm; the side <br />slopes are a maximum of 3:1 (H:V); and the facility is a <br />dual use facility; or <br />3) specific City Council approval is granted for an <br />exemption per the criteria in the City's Design and <br />Construction Standazds and Specifications. <br />If fencing is required due to the above criteria, the <br />fencing and appropriate gates must be shown on the plans. <br />The following note regarding pond berm materials o;� the <br />plans must be included un the plans: <br />NOTE: Berm soils shall consist of material conforming <br />to the following gradation: <br />8f�ve Size � Passing <br />3" 100 <br />#4 65-90 <br />,�200 12-20 <br />The permanent water pool of the pond is to be planted with <br />wetland vegetation to provide additional stormwater <br />treatment (in place of an oil/water separator). Therefore, <br />a planting schedule for the pond must be approved for <br />approval. The plan should call out the type of vegetation <br />to be planted, the density of the plantings, and the total <br />number of plants needed. Plants suited to the depth of <br />water in the pond should be used, such as hardstem bulrush, <br />yellow iris, and/or cattails. Required density of plantings <br />is a minimum of one per 2.25 square feet (1.5� O.C.) with <br />plants of the same type planted in groups rather than in a <br />completely random pattern. <br />
