RESOLUTION NO. 3851` l/`I ETT <br /> A RESOLUTION prohibiting motor vehicles from entering Maple Street northbound at <br /> 26th Street <br /> WHEREAS, the character of Maple Street north of Everett Avenue has changed with increased traffic <br /> volumes and speeds subsequent to the revisions to SR2, Maple, California and Walnut; <br /> WHEREAS, Maple Street is exceptionally narrow, resulting in many conflicts between two-way traffic and <br /> parked cars; <br /> WHEREAS, the City Traffic Engineer recommends against the establishment of a one-way street in a <br /> residential neighborhood due to the confusion, inefficiency and increased signing costs which would result; <br /> WHEREAS, the residents have been surveyed and have met with the City Traffic Engineer and have <br /> responded favorably to a proposed half closure of Maple Street at 26th Street; <br /> WHEREAS, the City's Transportation Advisory Committee has reviewed the proposal and recommends <br /> vehicles be prohibited from entering Maple Street northbound at 26th Street by use of a half street closure; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF EVERETT that <br /> vehicles are prohibited from entering Maple Street northbound at 26th Street, and that the City Traffic <br /> Engineer shall order and install such signs, markings, and devices as are necessary to affect this change. <br /> Further, the City Traffic Engineer shall evaluate the change--sx months after installation to determine its <br /> effectiveness. <br /> Cowper .n Introducing Reso ion <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED this 6th day of October , 19 93 <br /> c. 1 <br /> Coun it President <br /> st/kfreso9l <br />
