FIELD REPORT
Cornerstone Project: 117-791h Place Addition File No.: 2589.002A
IN Geotechnical, Inc, owner: CaseadeTesting Detc: 2010.05-17
A Division of liobinson&Noble,Inc.
176251301h Avenue NE C102 Location-. Everett Report No: 3
Woodinville,WA 98072 Weather: Sunny—55 deg. Page- 1 of 2
Purpose of Addition Footing Subgrade
Phone: 425.844.1977 Visit: Evaluation
Fax: 425.844-1987 By: KWB
We were onsite at the request of the contractor to evaluate the remaining portions of footing subgrade
for the addition.
In the areas shown,we observed the contractor remove the undocumented fill to expose a thin layer of
native organic topsoil than was roughly 2 to 10 incites thick. The fill consisted of gray to dark brown
silty sand with gravel and trace garbage, angular rock spalls and organics. We estimate that the fill was
%3 feet thick on the north side and 2 feet thick in the garage arca. We observed the contractor remove the
loose native soils exposing medium dense native rust mottled brown silty sand with gravel and silt with
sand and gravel. Using repeated effort,we probed through the 6 to 12 inches of medium dense soil and
consistently encountered very dense gray glacial till that we could not penetrate with our probe rod. We
observed the contractor use a jumping jack to compact the thin zone of native soil overlying the till. The
compacted subgradc was probed I to 3 inches prior to the backfill being placed. The depth of the
excavation for the garage footing was about 2 % feet and no overcxcavation was required. Tlrc dept" .
the trench for the footing on the north side of the house was about 18 inches and the amount of
overexcavation was only a couple inches. The trenches were about 3 feet wide at the base. It is our
opinion that the subgrades evaluated today should provide the specified 2,000 psf bearing pressure as
shown on the onsite plans.
Attachment: Signed:
Distribution:
C fy
