The non-organic, silty granular fill soils are suitable as structural fill material provided they
are placed during periods of dry weather(i.e., at or very near their optimum moisture
content). If the site soils cannot be used for fill, due to their moisture content, it would be
prudent to import a clean granular material free of organics and other deleterious material
for structural fill. A clean import soil should contain no more than 5 percent (by weight)
material passing the US No. 200 sieve. A material of this type may be successfully placed
and compacted under a wide variety of weather conditions. However, even with a select
fill, delays due to inclement weather may occur.
The integrity of building foundations and other structural elements depend on proper site
preparation and construction procedures. We are available to provide geotechnical
engineering services during earthwork and foundation construction phases of the project.
If variations in the subsurface conditions are observed at that time, we would be able to
provide additional geotechnical recommendations as the project develops
Sincerely,
Land Technologies
Peter R.
