This letter summarizes our Site investigation and Recommendations.
Site Investigation
We visited the site on July 17 to investigate the whether or not windows could be located in the existing
concrete tilt-up panels. 77ie panels are approximately 24' in width and extend from the foundation to
the roof. The three proposed window locations are on the side of the building where few openings
currently exist. The panels are in good condition and exhibit no visible sign of settlement or
temperature-induced cracking.
Recornmendations
Due to the amount of solid panels that exist on the side of the building where the proposed windows are
to be located, there will be adequate in the remaining concrete walls to resist code-specified earthquake
and wind loads. In addition, due to the height of the wall panels and the relatively modest window size
(4' wide x 6' tall), the walls gravity capacity should only be minimally affected.
We recommend, however, that the windows be located at least 3' off the ground and 3' from tine
adjacent panel edge. The purpose of locating the window away off the ground and away from the
panel edges is to minimize the amount of reinforcing steel that will be cut to accommodate the window
opening. Further, we recommend that only one window be located in a given panel.
 i i il, 1. ,no 16nr Lip• .,nit u„ .vL .. Inmy..,, I •i I1.,,,. , r
