18 <br />Schools <br />The site is within one mile of Explorer School V-8). <br />Mariner High Scnool is two miles south. The Long Range <br />Demographics and Facilities Study done for the Mukilteo <br />School District, in response to the substantial antici- <br />pated growth (CDS Associates Ltd., August 1979) does not <br />project expansion of these facilities or revision of <br />their attendance boundaries to exclude this site. <br />The study dia not directly utilize a students -per -dwelling <br />unit method of projecting enrollment, but suggested ratios <br />for multifamily areas are in the range of 0.18 to 0.28 <br />school -age children per multifamily household. This <br />would indicate that this project could generate 39 to 60 <br />'1 students, or between 2 or 3 classroom equivalent demand <br />.� for facilities. Expansion of this size is anticipate <br />and would probably occur within the district even if this <br />project were not constructed. <br />vi Enrollment increases in the 1980-81 school year (following <br />expected completion date of this project) are expected <br />to be accommodated by the new elementary school in the <br />west end of the school district, (Olympic View Site), <br />,y+ with some Explorer School students being shifted to this <br />1.1 area. Middle school (6-8) capacity at Explorer may be <br />expanded as the elementary capacity needed is reduced by <br />the shift.
