ORDINANCE NO. 2900-06 <br />AN ORDINANCE amending the City admission tax <br />Ordinance No. 162-71 and Ordinance No. 2977 (EMC 3.20) to <br />exclude the Everett Events Center as a "place" where <br />activities are subject to the admission tax, to exempt the <br />Everett Public Facilities District from the imposition of the <br />admission tax and the ten percent tax on excess charges over <br />the ticket price on tickets sold elsewhere, and to exempt from <br />the tax, any "person" as defined in the ordinance, who <br />conducts activities such as games, plays, performances, <br />displays or other similar activities, etc. at the Everett Events <br />Center. <br />WHEREAS, the Everett Events Center serves as an important venue for <br />games, plays, performances, displays, or other similar activities; and <br />WHEREAS, activity in and around the Everett Events Center has <br />contributed toward the revitalization of Everett's downtown core and its <br />standing as a tourist destination in the Puget Sound region; and <br />WHEREAS, based on its success in ticket sales in 2005, the Everett <br />Events Center was rated number eight in the world for facilities its size; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Everett has imposed an admission tax, throughout <br />the City, on activities such as games, plays, performances, displays, or <br />other similar activities, etc. under Ordinance No. 162-7 and Ordinance No. <br />2977 (Chapter 3.20 EMC), including those activities occurring at the <br />Regional Center which is owned, operated and maintained by the Everett <br />Public Facilities District ("District") under Chapter 35.57 RCW and which is <br />commonly referred to as the "Everett Events Center"; and <br />WHEREAS, the proceeds under the City's admission tax were devoted <br />to the payment of improvements at the Everett Events Center as <br />required for such City admission tax on admission at Regional Centers <br />under RCW 35.57.120; and <br />P. 1 of 5 <br />
