The plan included a list of example projects that would support plan implementation. Since plan adoption and consistent with City Council Resolution No. 5882, the department has worked with the Board of Park Commissioners to develop a comprehensive list of projects to comprise the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The CIP also identifies the projects' relative implementation priority, development schedule, placeholder development cost and potential sources of revenue during the next six years. It is a financially unconstrained list. Adoption of Appendix 11 (the 6 year CIP) to the Strategic Plan and designation of the updated Strategic Plan as the department's Compehrensive Plan through 2015 will then allow the department to submit the updated Strategic Plan as the department's "Comprehensive Plan" to the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (and other agencies as appropriate/needed). This action is required to insure that the City is eligible to submit and receive grant funds for eligible park/program development projects. At the May 26, 2010 City Council meeting, Parks will be requesting Council approval of the recommendation as stated below.
