Look for opportunities to work with neighborhoods to <br />improve neighborhood walking trails on undeveloped <br />right of way. <br />5. Investigate developing a section of the Shoreline Public <br />Access Trail connecting Forest Park to Howarth Park <br />providing 1.8 miles of paved trail. <br />6. Improvement to the Snohomish River portions of the <br />Public Access Trail at the Riverfront development can <br />provide an additional 2.7 miles of public trails <br />7. Renovation of Howarth Park will improve public access <br />and help meet short falls in trails. Improvement to the <br />trails and trail parking will improve access to the water <br />at Howarth Park Beach. <br />8. Improving the signage and other amenities along the <br />Interurban trail can increase use and help control <br />vandalism. <br />9. Development of interpretive areas and trail <br />improvements in the critical areas can help protect <br />valuable habitat for urban wildlife and can provide trails <br />linking neighborhoods and schools. <br />10. Enhancements of Hannabrook Park to improve trails <br />and increase use should be considered to help meet <br />recreation needs of the neighborhood. Investigate <br />developing a trail from Hannabrook to Howarth Park <br />following Pigeon Creek #2. <br />Partnerships: <br />1. Work with Compass Health to improve pedestrian <br />access to Forest Park from the south. Seek shared use <br />of parking lots on weekends and possible land <br />acquisition to allow expansion of the swim center. <br />2. Work with Compass Health to Develop trail linking <br />Johnston Kelly Park with Forest Park. <br />3. Work to acquire neighborhood owned open space if a <br />public benefit can be provided. <br />4. Consider developing agreements to allow public <br />investment in capital improvements to neighborhood <br />owned open space to improve recreation opportunities. <br />5. Work with schools to develop equitable use <br />agreements of open space to improve access and <br />facilities for public use. <br />6. Work with the Port to share funding of shoreline trail <br />improvements. <br />7. Work with neighborhood groups to promote safe <br />walking trails and to develop trail maps. <br />Constraints: <br />1. Critical areas that include steep slopes and streams <br />increase the difficulty to develop areas for recreation <br />use. <br />2.
