I'd like to add my comment for the
records in favor of the proposed changes. Is emailing it to you acceptable, or do I need to send it to someone else?
Greetings,
I live at 409 Veralene Way SW, Everett WA 98203, phone, 206 351 6404.
My home sits atop of the Phil Johnson ball park, looking over the hill onto the CEMEX facility. As someone who has experienced the full
impact of this industrial area, good and bad, I would like to add my letter of support for the proposed changes to the zoning of the
CEMEX area.
It is my opinion that in bringing this high quality new neighborhood to the area, the area will be encouraged to improve, specifically it will
help prevent the degradation of Casino roads apartment complexes moving north into prime ocean side real estate. Having the new
zoning will also encourage higher quality jobs with higher pay in the surrounding industrial area.
Areas that I would like the council to consider and to write into the scope, if it is not already sufficiently documented, are the following:
a) All view property should maintain their full landscape view unobstructed as the site lines currently exist to prevent property value
losses.
b) Building roofing specification within the newly zoned area should be muted natural colors or sky or ocean colors to preserve the
beauty of of the views. (Some late industrial building which have been built have significantly destroyed the views due to their pure
white high gloss roofing construction).
c) Outdoor lighting for the new buildings should be minimal to preserve further deterioration of the community night scape. (The area
already has over 300 high powered industrial lights which have significantly destroyed the night scape, the city should look into this
mishap and diligently work to resolve this issue, as these lighting numbers are unnecessary for the area).
d) Rezoned industrial areas should be designated for office space, tech and similar industry base which bring higher paying jobs.
Everett needs high tech and above average paying jobs added to the base to help increase our visibility as a quality community. Adding
more heavy industrial will only encourage our community to become a location of cheap labor and drive down our community quality.
e) Homes should be designated with a price specification as a documented percentage above market average in construction type and
quality and price, to encourage and provide higher scale living. This is a prime real estate area close to the ocean, that should be
upscaled to encourage the surrounding areas to improve. Allowing a plan without such price specification will allow too wide of an
interpretation. i It
Overall I believe the plans for rezoning are very well designed and thoughtful regarding the surrounding neighborhoods. And as a
citizen who will be directly impacted by all efforts on this site, I'm happy to provide my comments on this project moving forward.
a
Sincerely
Derrick Davis
