ETT <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 3703 <br /> A RESOLUTION to purchase 34 Opticom Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption <br /> Discriminator Units from a sole source supplier. <br /> WHEREAS, the Traffic Division of Public Works desires to upgrade and standardize <br /> emergency vehicle pre-emption equipment at twenty-six (26) traffic signal locations <br /> requiring a total of thirty-four (34) discriminator units; and <br /> WHEREAS, 3M Opticom Model 262 Discriminator units are compatible with existing <br /> emergency vehicle pre-emption equipment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Opticom Discriminator units are patented by 3M, who are, therefore, <br /> the only company that can supply this equipment; and <br /> WHEREAS, Safety Signal Systems is the exclusive distributor for 3M Opticom <br /> equipment in the Northwest; and <br /> WHEREAS, funds are available in the 1992 budget for this purchase; and <br /> WHEREAS, the supplier has quoted a special 50% discount price to replace obsolete <br /> Model 168 Phase Selector units; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everett that the <br /> Purchasing Department is authorized to purchase thirty-four (34) Opticom Model 262 <br /> Discriminator Units, including the necessary racks, harnesses and field modifications <br /> from Safety Signal Systems at a total price of$37,659.01, including tax. <br /> Zee' r <br /> Councilperson Introducing Resolution <br /> PASSED and APPROVED this 9th day of December , 1992. <br /> • -\1/-*/ .4./4..Council Presi ent <br /> RD:jl/Res 1130 <br />
