S <br /> yg 9j <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 3678 <br /> A RESOLUTION requesting a Weyco Site Conservation Futures application. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett wishes to preserve sensitive urban open space, <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Pigeon Creek #1 is a salmon bearing stream of National and <br /> International stream keeper significance, and <br /> WHEREAS, preservation of the Pigeon Creek stream corridor for salmon, eagles <br /> and other wildlife is in the best interest of present and future generations, <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the present Weyco Site owned by the Utilities Department of the City <br /> of Everett is surrounded by Park land in lower Forest Park, and <br /> WHEREAS, funds are available as a result of the State of Washington giving <br /> counties the authority to levy up to six and one-quarter cents per thousand <br /> dollars on all taxable property within the county for the purpose of acquiring <br /> conservation futures (RCW 84.34.230), and <br /> WHEREAS, Snohomish County took advantage of this opportunity to assist in the <br /> acquisition of open space by levying the tax and setting up advisory <br /> committees to recommend policies, evaluate proposals, and make recommendations <br /> to the Snohomish County Council regarding funding priorities (SCC 4.14). <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT <br /> authorize Mayor Pete Kinch to seek a Conservation Futures application from <br /> Snohomish County, for the aquisition of the Weyco Site from the City of <br /> Everett Utilities Department. <br /> / '� �' - .� <br /> CouncilOrson Introducing Resolution <br /> g <br /> PASSED and APPROVED this 7th day i Zrer , 1992. <br /> cil President <br /> WDADMIN838 <br />
