Maddy serves as an ASB officer, a retreat leader and played varsity soccer
and softball.
She assisted in rebuilding houses in New Orleans after the hurricane and
saw how much such a simple task can mean — such as installing a lock on
the door of a house. She was amazed when the woman who lived in the
home cried in Maddy's arms and thanked her. She has also volunteered at
Camp Prov, a camp for children with disabilities.
The greatest obstacle Maddy has overcome was when her dad was
unemployed for two years, which was stressful for Maddy but eventually
made her grateful for what she has.
Maddy got a job of her own to help pay for her own things as well as to
pay her soccer fees, and activities with her friends.
Her inspiration comes from her friends and family and especially from her
mom.
Someday Maddy hopes to become a nurse serving disabled children. She
was inspired by the disabled kids she worked with at Camp Prov and was
impressed with their smiling faces and hard work ethic. She hopes to do
the same and help disabled children maintain a healthy lifestyle just like
any child deserves.
She plans to attend Bard College, located in Annedale-on-the Hudson in
New York and continue to play soccer where she will major in biology.
She describes herself as hardworking, confident and outgoing.
JJ Jammeh
JJ Jammeh is a 19-year-old senior at Mariner High School.
