The proposals include pricing for restoration/replacement of certain streets using either <br /> asphalt pavement or cement concrete. The lowest responsive and responsible bid is $2,701,174.20 for <br /> asphalt and $2,805,474.20 for concrete, from KLB Construction Inc. The Engineers Estimate is $4,530,000 <br /> for asphalt and$4,680,000 for concrete. It is recommended that the project be awarded to KLB Construction <br /> Inc. for their concrete bid, at a cost of$2,805,474.20, including sales tax. <br /> This project replaces approximately 7,400 linear feet of deteriorated combined sewer mains, manholes and <br /> storm drainage systems and replaces approximately 135 residential side sewer connections. Most street and <br /> alley restoration consists of full-width pavement with new curbs and sidewalks. This project is the last of a <br /> series of three sewer replacement projects in the northwest corner of the Port Gardner Neighborhood(Rucker <br /> Hill). Construction is scheduled for August 2010 through May 2011. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Award the construction contract and authorize the Mayor to sign the contract with KLB Construction Inc. for <br /> the Sewer System Replacement F Schedule B Project UP3200-2, in the amount of$2,805,474.20,including <br /> sales tax. <br /> 9 <br />
