One section of
Transmission Line No. 5 alignment parallels Skipley Road between the intersections of 831'1 Ave SE and 72"1
Ave SE, east of the City. For approximately 270 feet just east of the intersection with 72nd Ave SE,the 48-
inch diameter steel transmission line is supported on steel pile bents as it spans a deep ravine. Based on field
reconnaissance by the City, there is evidence of significant slope erosion at the east end of the pile supported
transmission line, as well as evidence of pile lateral movement and deformation affecting at least four of the
pile bents at the eastern end of the pipe crossing. This project will replace the failing pile bents in order to
restore the structural integrity of the transmission line support system.
The City has selected HDR Engineering, Inc.to provide the design and construction support services for the
project. Total expenditure requested to provide the design and construction support services is $195,639.
Budget remaining is $804,361.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign the Professional Services Agreement with HDR Engineering, Inc. for the design
services of the Transmission Line No. 5 Pile Replacement Project in the amount of$195,639.
5
