In 2008,the City initiated consideration of an amendment to zoning code regulations to allow for detached ADUs. Staff has not presented the Commission recommendation to the City Council yet, in order to incorporate the changes into a larger group of potential code amendments related to design standards in single family zones. The citizen who originally requested that the City initiate the code amendment process has asked that the matter be brought forward for City Council consideration. Council President Roberts has agreed to consider the request in a City Council briefing. The briefing for August 11, 2010 is intended to allow Council to direct staff to move the Planning Commission recommendation forward independent of other design related code amendments,hold the recommendation back while other design-related code amendments in single family zones are developed, or take such other action as Council desires.
