Scope of Services
Continued
7326 Boston Harbor Road NE
Engineering Consultants,Inc. Olympia, 45A 98506
, g $ (360)570-3450
www.mgsengr.com
COST ESTIMATE
Project: Engineering Support to OTAK for Precipitation Input for.Hydrologic/Hydraulic
Model used to Analyze City ofEverett Combined Sewer
Task 1: Quality Check Precipitation inputs for SWMM Model
Precipitation collected by the City of Everett at a time step of 10-minutes will be used to
perform long-term simulations using the SWMM model to identify capacity issues in the
Everett combined sewer. Work under this task will involve analyzing the precipitation time
series for completeness and quality checking it to ensure there are no erroneous precipitation
values, and correcting these values.
Ten-minute time step precipitation data collected by the City of Everett will be provided to
MGS Engineering by OTAK along with hourly data collected at the Everett long-term gage.
The ten-minute data is approximately 10-years in length and will be used as input to the
SWMM model to assess combined sewer capacity issues. The two datasets will be compared
to identify periods of missing rainfall and data from the hourly record will be used to fill in
any missing periods in the 10-minute record. Annual maximum statistics will be computed
for the ten-minute record for durations of 10-minutes,30-minutes, 60-minutes,2-hours, 6-
hours, 24-hours, 72-hours, 10-day, 30-day, 90-day,and annual and compared with regional
statistics. This will allow anomalously high (or low) precipitation periods to be identified and
corrected, and to determine whether the record is representative of the climatic conditions at
Everett.
Deliverables: Quality checked precipitation time series with missing periods filled in and
erroneous data corrected suitable for long term simulation in SWMM model. Technical
memorandum documenting the approach used to check the time series along with
precipitation magnitude-frequency statistics at each duration.
Hours Rate Amount
Bruce Barker,P.E. 32 $125.00 $4,000.00
Mel Schaefer,P.E. 2 $135.00 $ 270.00
34 $4,270.00
City of Everett—North Everett Combined Sewer System Evaluation 11
otak
IC:\project\31500\31520\Contract\Amendll_NAreaFlooding\31520 Everett SetaAmendment 1 Scope082S10.doc
