r---A'
RESOLUTION # Z59C * Eai/FY
ETT
A RESOLUTION honoring the memory of Arthur F. "Bud"
Alexander, the City's mayor between 1964 and 1968.
WHEREAS, Past Mayor Bud Alexander insisted that the city and the citizens
invest in roads and utilities for the future. Transportation lead to jobs, which was
the basis for the City of Everett to develop an industrial format. He teamed up
with another commissioner to get voters to pass a $4.5 million bond issue for
roads, which became seed money for a state matching arterial program, and it
helped make the difference for Everett. He took office as the state was about to
complete construction of I-5 linking Seattle with Everett, and the Boeing Company
was about to announce intentions to assemble a new jumbo jetliner in south
Everett at Paine Field.
WHEREAS, Under Past Mayor Alexander's administration, the city fought for and
got a freeway interchange at 19th street, and replaced ancient wooden pipes
bringing water from the Spada Reservoir in the Sultan Basin.
WHEREAS, Bud Alexander was very close to both firefighters and police officers,
and he worked hard to add personnel to both of these departments.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett, representing the citizens of the
City of Everett, hereby acknowledge and honor the service of past mayor Bud
Alexander who was at the forefront of those who pushed the city out from under
the old three-commissioner form of government to the strong-mayor form of today.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVERETT: that the members of the City Council extend their sympathy
to the members of his family. ri;- '
Councilman Introducing Res• e n , A ►
PASS D and APPROVED this 19th day of Febru. --(92.
4
111°
l I y Arm %.tiI mss-
7 cil President 1 ': on Mayor Pete ' nc
Ali' I
dr/
C--------- AdIPPir / i
Cou man Frank ' nderson Councilman Bob Overstreet
) -
'lund • an Chuck oser Counci man Ed Diamond
Counc man Doug C.mpbell
