tk <br /> 'Nil- <br /> E!/ERETT <br /> Resolution No.6 l <br /> A RESOLUTION adopting a Water Meter Pilot Project <br /> WHEREAS, The City of Everett has adopted an Interim Water Conservation Program; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, It is the policy of the City to accurately measure consumption of water; and <br /> WHEREAS, The installation of residential water meters is the most accurate method of <br /> measuring consumption and discouraging water waste; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City has adopted water rates that offer metered customers a lower rate <br /> than unmetered, flat rate customers; and <br /> WHEREAS, Many customers could benefit financially by paying only for the water that <br /> they actually use; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City will benefit from water conservation through metering by <br /> postponing or preventing the need for a new source of supply; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF EVERETT that all new water accounts will be metered; <br /> AND, that any customer who wishes to change from a flat rate account to a metered <br /> account may do so at no charge for the meter or installation; <br /> AND, that the first 100 customers who volunteer to have a meter installed will be charged <br /> the lower of the flat rate or metered rate for the first two (2) years of metered service in <br /> exchange for their permission to allow the City to use their name and/or likeness in <br /> promotions for the City's meter installation program; <br /> AND, that the City will take an aggressive approach toward customer assistance with leak <br /> detection and promotion of residential water conservation. <br /> al - <br /> ouncil erson Introducm Resolution <br /> P g <br /> PASSED and APPROVED this day of , 1991. <br /> aLidAk N <br /> Council President <br />
