WHEREAS, the establishment of methadone maintenance <br /> treatment by public or non-profit agencies in Snohomish <br /> County becomes a potential wedge for other methadone clinics <br /> to establish in our communities where they can become a <br /> magnet to attract heroin addicts from around the state; and <br /> WHEREAS, we must develop aggressive, responsible, <br /> compassionate strategies and programs to alleviate the <br /> suffering of those caught in self destructive drug <br /> addiction, while recognizing the rights of all citizens to <br /> be protected from predators and those benefitting monetarily <br /> from human suffering who are perpetuating the drug culture; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF EVERETT that the establishment of methadone <br /> treatment programs in the city of Everett shall be opposed. <br /> AA4 r(� <br /> Council person Introducing Resolution <br /> PASSED and APPROVED this a� day of Lhqctilpf J , 1991 <br /> aLemt---3 <br /> ED MORROW, Council resident <br />
