RESOLUTION NO. 3414 <br /> A RESOLUTION reaffirming the City' s long standing position <br /> regarding the protection of water quality and opposing <br /> overnight camping in the Sultan Basin. <br /> Whereas, the City has previously stated it's position <br /> regarding the protection of water quality and oposition to <br /> overnight camping in the City' s watershed areas in EMC <br /> 14 . 24 . 20; and <br /> Whereas, the Jackson Project Co-licensees in cooperation <br /> with local and state health agencies, the United States <br /> Forest Service,the Washington State Department of Natural <br /> Resources and the Washington State Department of Wildlife <br /> have worked together to enforce the water quality related <br /> restrictions for activities in the Sultan Basin; and <br /> Whereas, under the FERC license for stage two of the Henry <br /> M. Jackson Project the co-licensees are required to develop <br /> a recreation plan; and <br /> Whereas, the protection of the quality of water which serves <br /> approximately 80% of the citizens of Snohomish County shall <br /> still be of the highest priority; and <br /> Whereas, the minimization of human impacts is judged to be <br /> of the utmost importance for the protection of water quality <br /> in the Sultan Basin; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT that it is reaffirmed that there shall be no <br /> overnight camping allowed in the Sultan Basin, nor shall <br /> anyone be allowed to swim, wade or otherwise impact the <br /> water quality of the Sultan Basin in a deleterious manner. <br /> ectwa4 <br /> alticetAi- <br /> Councilperson In oduci Resolution <br /> PASSED and APPROVED this A/ 41 day of December, 1990. <br /> -r.. <br /> President <br />
