8
either recommend a similar project, make modifications, or other improvements. How and what
can be done to restore the 300 acres will be completed during the feasibility study.
The intended use of the requested funds will be for the City to evaluate the restoration alternatives
under its cost share responsibilities. This work will be done as part of the Corps PSAW feasibility
study.
For projects within the PSAW 544 program the Corps collaborates and utilizes information
provided by non-federal interests to the maximum extent possible. The requested NRDA funds will
pay for costs associated with the development and design of estuary restoration alternatives,
enabling the City to participate fully in the feasibility study and meet its cost-share obligations with
the Corps.
As the project moves forward the local sponsor will also complete all state and local permits.
Should not all funds be expended, any remaining funds will be used toward preparing these state
and local permits.
Deliverables/Outcomes
The restoration evaluation will be integral to the Corps' feasibility study for the DD6 Restoration
Project. This will be a pre-design evaluation and recommendation of the most effective solution of
the restoration plans of the 300 acres. It will include typical biological and engineering conceptual
plans and follow the Corps' feasibility study protocols, and be sufficient for feasibility evaluation
and decision-making.
Schedule
Work related to this work scope on the DD6 restoration for habitat evaluation will commence in the
fall of 2010 and will be completed by June 30, 2011.
Budget or Cost
Total Amount Requested: $100,000($100,000 recommended).
The restoration feasibility study will be conducted jointly by the City and the Corps, and may cost
up to $200,000 to complete at a 50/50 cost share (only preliminary cost estimates at this time). The
Corps will pay for$100,000 of the required feasibility study costs with the local sponsor covering
the remainder. The requested NRDA funds will serve as a non-federal match, and will cover the
remaining approximately $100,000 in costs. This work scope for this grant will be completed by
June 30th 2011, and will be part of the Corp's Feasibility Study, which will likely be completed on a
separate timeframe. The Feasibility Study could take between 12 and 18 months to complete.
Project Site
See map below.
dd6 nrda settlement scope ms 101810.doc 21 2 8 10/18/2010
