IPMC section 605.3
Flexible cords are not to be used for permanent wiring to power required lighting. IPMC section 605.4
Lighting is to be provided at all locations of buildings sufficient to permit the safe occupancy of the space and utilization
of appliances, equipment and fixtures. IPMC section 402.3
It should be also stated here that the hallway or corridor that is being referred to in the concern leads to an exterior exit
door. This corridor and all related and required components is a means of egress for the occupants of the building.
Failure to maintain this corridor in a safe and approved manner is a violation of IPMC section 108.1.5 subsections 1 and
9 this would render the building a Dangerous Structure or Premises.
"The conditions described in the email and shown in the photo attachments you sent me clearly indicate that this
building is in violation of the aforementioned code sections."
"Because of these conditions and code violations this building is an Unlawful, Unsafe, and potentially dangerous
structure as defined by code."
I strongly support and encourage enforcement action to abate these violations.
Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in this matter
Regards
Ted de Budden
Chief Inspector
Everett Building Department
425.257 7271
From: Donald Cunningham
Sent: Wednesday, September 28, 2016 12:10 PM
To: Ted de Budden
Subject: 206 E Casino
Ted-
Please look at the attached photos and notes—also an email from one tenant. The owner apparently does not have
power to producing lighting in the tenants bathroom, the hallway, or the suite the tenant must pass through to get to
the bathroom. They are currently extending a power cord from their rented office space, through Suite 5, through the
hallway and into the bathroom to provide light in there.
1
