• !/E?ETT ORDINANCE NO. 1934-93 AN ORDINANCE relating to skateboarding, adding a new chapter to Everett Municipal Code Title 46 (Traffic Code), and repealing Ordinance 1271-86 (EMC 46.36.020). WHEREAS, in recent years, the riding of skateboards have become an increasingly frequent occurrence in downtown Everett, an area used by automobile traffic and pedestrians in high volume; and WHEREAS, the City of Everett has been contacted by downtown Everett businesses, their employees and patrons, complaining that the skateboards have not been operated with care and the safety of the public is thereby threatened; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett has determined that severe and repeated damage is being done to downtown property and buildings by skateboards; and WHEREAS, the potential danger to the public and the apprehension thereof by pedestrians is such that it would be reasonable and appropriate for the public safety and well-being to prohibit the riding of skateboards in downtown Everett. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: A new chapter is hereby added to Title 46 of the Everett Municipal Code (Traffic Code), to be entitled Skateboarding in Central Business District. Section 2: Riding Skateboard in Central Business District. A. It is unlawful for any person to ride a skateboard upon a public sidewalk or roadway in the Central Business District. B. "Central Business District" as used in this chapter, means the area designated by the Everett Zoning Code (EMC Title 19), as now or hereafter amended, as Zone B-3.
