• <br /> !/E?ETT <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1934-93 <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to skateboarding, adding a new <br /> chapter to Everett Municipal Code Title 46 (Traffic Code), and <br /> repealing Ordinance 1271-86 (EMC 46.36.020). <br /> WHEREAS, in recent years, the riding of skateboards have become an <br /> increasingly frequent occurrence in downtown Everett, an area used by <br /> automobile traffic and pedestrians in high volume; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has been contacted by downtown Everett <br /> businesses, their employees and patrons, complaining that the skateboards <br /> have not been operated with care and the safety of the public is thereby <br /> threatened; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett has determined that <br /> severe and repeated damage is being done to downtown property and <br /> buildings by skateboards; and <br /> WHEREAS, the potential danger to the public and the apprehension <br /> thereof by pedestrians is such that it would be reasonable and appropriate <br /> for the public safety and well-being to prohibit the riding of skateboards in <br /> downtown Everett. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: A new chapter is hereby added to Title 46 of the Everett <br /> Municipal Code (Traffic Code), to be entitled Skateboarding in Central <br /> Business District. <br /> Section 2: Riding Skateboard in Central Business District. <br /> A. It is unlawful for any person to ride a skateboard upon a public <br /> sidewalk or roadway in the Central Business District. <br /> B. "Central Business District" as used in this chapter, means the <br /> area designated by the Everett Zoning Code (EMC Title 19), as now or <br /> hereafter amended, as Zone B-3. <br />
