CITY OF EVERETT
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
APPLICATION FORM
Name: Kimberly A.Williams
Address: 1420 Grand Ave. Everett,Wa 98201
Phone: 765-546-2132 E-Mail: kimberlywilliams2@gmail.com
Occupation: Local Artist ,Barista at Downtown Everett Starbucks
How long have you been an Everett resident? 1 year and 9 months
Board(s)/Commission(s)of interest: Cultural Arts Commission
Why do you want to serve on this board/commission?
I want to serve on this commission because I love Everett,I love living and working in North Everett, and I
truly believe participation in this commission would put me in a position to deepen my community involve-
ment as an artist and creative thinker. There are really good things happening in Everett, and involvement on
this commission would place me with others who are equipped with the tools to keep good things happening in
Everett, particularly in regards to cultural events.
Please provide background, experience, and qualifications that would assist you in serving on this board/
commission: I graduated in 2008 with degrees in Painting and Illustration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
In March of 2009 I moved to North Everett with specific intentions to grow up and be a productive member in
a community. My ultimate goals were to apply my self to a creative community or somehow use my training
to serve a community creatively. Moving to Everett was one of the greatest steps toward progress. My first
week in town I took a job at the Downtown Everett Starbucks. What a perfect place to work! I feel as though I
already literally serve the entire community! Not only do I get to be a servant to the community as I make them
coffee, but I also help create a place where ANY one can come and be acknowledged and even known. I know
so many people because of my job,and knowing people and feeling a connectedness to them makes me love
Everett so much! So,my job has definitely given me a hearty dose of Everett which I can't get enough of. One
of the most valuable skills I have learned is to listen. My customers are the movers and shakers in Everett, and
they are also the students, the lonely, the homeless, the affluent, the people who live 5 doors down. Learning
to really observe and listen with a keen ear is one of my most valued skills that I have developed on the job. I
want to share with this commission how I see and experience Everett.
List past or present community involvement: Fresh Paint Artist Festival Artist 2010,Galapalooza Artist
2010,member at the YMCA,Volunteer at Schack Art Center Glass Auction 2010,artwork on display and for
sale at the Art Gallery Store and Silver Cup Coffee,Zippy's Open Mic Night every Thursday, 3231 Creatives
on Broadway Steering Team Member,I ride my bike to work everyday on Colby Avenue (it is cheesy,I know,
but I wave to people sometimes as I ride into work),I lived on a sailboat in the Everett Marina for 5 months in
2010,Milltown Neighborhood Church.
Signature Kimberly A.Williams
Date Jan. 10,2010
