Filtered water pumped to Portal#3 flows through a pipe, free <br /> falls 30 vertical feet,then flows into Tunnel#2. Minor leakage of untreated water from Tunnel#2 enters <br /> Portal#3 and mixes with the filtered water that is delivered from the Water Filter Plant. Any leakage of <br /> untreated water with the filtered water would constitute a possible cross connection. A plan to hard pipe the <br /> filtered water through Portal#3 and inject grout into Tunnel#2 to prevent leakage has been prepared by URS <br /> corporation. The project is ready to bid at this time and the engineers estimate to complete this work is <br /> $1,200,000. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Authorize the Call for Bids for Portal#3 Modifications. <br /> 7 <br />
